Frequently Asked Questions

EMSCULPT

What is Emsculpt?

Emsculpt is the first and only non-invasive body sculpting procedure for men and

women that simultaneously addresses both muscle and fat.  Emsculpt also creates

the world's first non-invasive butt lift procedure!

How does it work?

Emsculpt creates a unique electromagnetic field that penetrates the skin to impact

muscle tissue as well as belly fat. The energy induces almost 20,000 supramaximal

muscle contractions per session, something that can't be achieved at the gym and

all whilst lying on a table.

Do i need a consultation before I get Emsculpt?

Yes.  Before commencing Emsculpt treatments, a complimentary consultation is required along with completion of a confidential intake form. This process helps us identify any contraindications and ensure the treatment is appropriate for your individual needs. The consultation also provides an opportunity to discuss your goals and ask any questions, allowing us to tailor a safe and effective treatment plan.

What do I wear for this treatment?

You remain fully clothed during your treatment so wear comfortable loose fitting clothing as this allows flexibility for correct positioning on the bed and increased comfort during the session.  Remove all metallic accessories (jewellery, watches, underwire bras) prior to treatment

What does it feel like?

During treatment, you’ll lie comfortably while the applicators are secured over your target muscle groups. The session begins with modest intensity and gradually increases, delivering thousands of supramaximal contractions (far exceeding what you can do voluntarily). Most patients describe the sensation as similar to a vigorous workout - muscular pulling, tingling, and deep vibrations - without any pain. As the intensity increases, this may feel odd at first, but most people quickly acclimate!

What are supramaximal muscles contractions and why are they important in Emsculpt’s results?

A supramaximal contraction is a muscle contraction far exceeding the maximal voluntary contraction that humans can achieve through exercise. Emsculpt induces around 20,000 such contractions in one 30-minute session. These contractions activate more muscle fibres, generate higher tension and place a demand on the muscle that triggers deeper re-modelling and growth compared to typical workouts.

By repeatedly subjecting the muscles to this intense activity, the muscle tissue responds by increasing in volume (hypertrophy) and number (hyperplasia), producing more pronounced muscle tone and functional strength. Additionally, the intense energy expenditure stimulates the breakdown of adjacent fat cells for fuel - a process known as lipolysis - enabling simultaneous muscle gain and fat reduction.

How long is each session and how many are recommended?

Each sessions takes 30 minutes. The Emsculpt treatment package comprises four sessions and can be  spaced 2–3 days apart or weekly.  However, the recommended protocol is designed to maximise both muscle adaptation and fat loss, as each session builds upon the cumulative effect of previous treatments. This intensive schedule over two to three weeks produces the most marked changes in body composition.

Are there side effects or recovery period?

Any post-treatment muscle fatigue is generally mild and resolves within a day or two.

Is there any special after treatment care?

•     Continue to hydrate well and maintain a balanced diet rich in protein to support muscle repair.

•     Gentle stretching or light activity may help reduce mild muscle soreness.

•     Avoid strenuous workouts involving treated muscles for 24–48 hours if you experience fatigue or soreness.

•     Maintain healthy habits to sustain results, as significant weight gain may diminish outcomes.

When will I see results?

This may vary depending on your age, physical condition, BMI and many other aspects.  In general patients begin to feel tangible results right after the treatment.  Positive results  are usually reported 2 to 4 weeks after the last session and typically continue to improve for several weeks following the treatments.

How long do results last & do I have to repeat procedures regularly?

Nothing in life lasts forever, but the clinical studies show that the majority of people are still better in both muscle and fat even a year after their treatment series.  However, we recommend to book another consultation a few months after your treatments to see if you may benefit form any additional treatments.  Keeping a healthy lifestyle is the key to maintain your results in the longer term.
