Frequently Asked Questions
EMSELLA
Do I need a consultation before i do Emsella?
Yes. Before commencing Emsella treatments, a complimentary consultation is required
along with completion of a confidential intake form. This process helps us understand
your pelvic health history, identify any contraindications and ensure the treatment is
appropriate for your individual needs. The consultation also provides an opportunity
to discuss your goals and ask any questions, allowing us to tailor a safe and effective
treatment plan.
Who can benefit from Emsella treatments?
Emsella is suitable for both women and men experiencing urinary incontinence,
pelvic floor weakness or for women seeking postnatal or post-surgical recovery.
What do I wear for this treatment?
You remain fully clothed during your treatment so wear comfortable loose fitting clothing as this allows flexibility for correct positioning and increased comfort during the session. Remove all metallic accessories (jewellery, watches, underwire bras) prior to treatment.
Is it safe?
The Emsella Chair is both TGA approved and FDA cleared as a medical-grade device for strengthening pelvic floor muscles and treating urinary incontinence. These regulatory endorsements affirm its safety, efficacy, and non-invasive nature for therapeutic use in both men and women.
What does FDA & TGA approved mean?
The TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration) in Australia and the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) in the United States are regulatory bodies that assess and approve medical devices, ensuring they meet safety, efficacy, and quality standards for public use.
What does a session feel like?
The Emsella chair delivers thousands of supramaximal pelvic floor contractions and when the treatment starts you experience a sensation that is gentle yet powerful - like an internal workout without effort! You will feel slight tingling and vibrations in the pelvic floor muscles that will turn into full contractions. There is typically no pain associated with the treatment.
How long is each session and how many are recommended?
Each session takes 28 minutes. The Emsella treatment package involves 6 sessions over a 3 weeks period.
Personalised treatment plans may vary based on your body’s needs and healing goals. This will be considered in your initial consultation.
Is there a recovery period?
There is no downtime at all - you can get back to any daily activity immediately following the procedure.
When will I see results?
This may vary depending on your age, physical condition and many other aspects. In general patients begin to feel tangible results right after the treatment. Positive results typically continue over the next few weeks.
How long do results last & will I need to repeat the procedure regularly?
Clinical studies show that the majority of patients are able to maintain the results up to 6 months after their treatment series. However it is recommended to book in for another consultation a few months after your treatment to see if you may benefit from any additional treatments. A healthy lifestyle is the key to maintain your results in the longer term.
Can I have a treatment if I am pregnant or menstruating?
No, we recommend that you DO NOT undertake any treatments whilst pregnant or menstruating.
Are Emsella treatments suitable for everyone?
No, unfortunately they are not. There are CONTRAINDICATIONS.
